I lie here in the lush, green grass.
In the rays of the balmy sun.
A crisp wind blows across my nakes body,
As the daffodils tickle my belly.
I smell the warm earth and flowers of some kind.
A breeze rustles in the blades of the grass,
And a bird sings sweetly in the distance.
I hear nothing invented by man.
Only that which nature created.
My heartbeat slows.
My body relaxes as though slipping into the earth.
My thoughts are disjointed,
FLoating through my brain seamlessly.
In the far distance,
I can hear the faint rumble of the ocean waves.
Every so often, a tang of salt hits the air.
It creates in me an urge to run to the sea.
To throw myself into the cold waters,
And let the briny depths soothe my soul.
I dream of lying upon the waters,
Rocked gently by the undulating swells.
I yearn to be part of this world that I came from.
This world that shelters and feeds me.
To be one with the ultimate mother.
To soar the skies with the eagles.
To swim the ocean waters with the whales.
To share the heights of the trees with the monkeys.
To burrow deep into the earth with the moles.
They all find a home in the natural world,
Not surrounded by drywall, carpet and noise.
I wish my pillow to be the lichen,
And my bed a mound of leaves.
The owl shall keep watch by night,
Singing me to sleep with his hoot.
I was born into the wrong time,
Far after the respect for our home became endangered.
So I take what I can in these lazy afternoons,
And fill my soul with wonder and warmth.
To carry me through all else.
