A vermilion sky gives way to night's cobalt cloak,
as I sink into the sandman's depths.
Heavy eyes open onto the grainy landscape of my
midnight dreams.
I find myself in the middle of a vast desert.
An ambrosial breeze drifts across my face,
causing a deja-vu sensation to wash over me,
like ancient, buried remembrances of a past life.
A sudden gravitational pull in the atmosphere
causes me to look up.
And there, like two lunar behemoths,
are Jupiter and Saturn.
These kaleidoscopic giants filled the evening sky.
The colors were an explosion of beauty,
that rendered me speechless and in awe.
Saturn's rings were just touching the edge of Jupiter's surface.
They were so colossal and close,
that I felt I could reach out and touch them.
Run my fingers across their incandescent surfaces.
Tangerine, saffron and scarlet dripping from my fingertips.
In those unearthly moments,
I felt a peace and a sense of truth and beauty,
previously unknown to me.
I remember thinking,
if death is akin to dreaming,
I would welcome the reaper's indubitable arms,
with a welcome smile.
