painting scarlet distractions

~ verablue ~

I’ve been meaning to fill in this blank page for an hour now

But instead I’m watching Scarlet’s lips move from across the coffee shop
In swift pre-rehearsed words

She’s swallowing the mind games with vegan mushroom soup and a vanilla soy latte

I’ve never liked her kind much

And she lays the innuendo on thick
She pulls out a cigarette and places it between her fuck me red lips

And I’m chain chewing nicorette in stiletto heels with an empty notebook in front of me
She’s distracting me from my inky emotional meltdown

And I’m watching Scarlet’s glassy blue eyes shatter into a girly puppy dog face
And the 43 year old investor folds into an 18 year old boy

“Anything you want dear, I’ll buy the tickets tomorrow”

She flashes a half smile and sadistically laughs to herself
She puts on her stripper voice and whispers in his ear

I snap myself back to reality….burn my tongue on a cup of earl grey
Stumble to find my phone in my purse before it stops ringing

Another wrong number.

I stare back at pages upon pages of empty words

This month has been a shit-fest as far as writing is concerned
It’s all lacking something....
It’s all not…what’s the word?

Good.

Scarlet’s laugh swims over to my table
It’s dressed in ear piercing giggles

I never liked her kind much

Yeah, I never liked her kind much.

Pulled out of limbo, this was fantastic..a genuine fight against writer's block, a page filled with great observations..Write on, and kill the shit-fest..You're a fuckin' talented writer who deserves to enjoy an ego-fest because you ARE good.

fuck, this was incredible..i loved all the observant metaphors..and the description of Scarlet was captivating. something about the last two lines really grabbed me..they seem so simple, yet much more.
