When I finally wake
I will tell my story
Inside each page will be all the colors of my existence
Each word will contain my burdens
Each cry will contain my soul
Tear stained from cover to cover
Heartbroken over and over
When I finally wake
I will live each day unburdened
Untouched by the pains of the past
Unchanged by the sins of the father
I will move forward without inhibition
Let go without indecision
When I finally wake
I will love without question
Tell a new story of exhumed passion
Sing the praises of my redemption
I will love
I will change
I will let go
I will make a difference in my life, and maybe in yours
When it is, that I finally wake
For this moment I lay dormant in my slumber
Ignorant within my dreams
Today I find myself unwilling to break free of this self medicating unawareness
Until that day, I will not truly be free
Until that day, and the need finally becomes enough
Until that day…I will sleep
