I could look at you forever,
Watch you sleep next to me
(Mouth slightly open, you snore like a purring dragon
Lashes half gold-and-chocolate on pale cheeks)

I could look at you forever,
Admire you until sight left me
(Perfect Grecian statue brought to rosy breathing life;
Dare I kiss you to assure my lips you're real?)

I could look at you forever,
Idly dream of what you are
(Newly-fallen angel, halo not yet slipped-
If I ventured to feel your back I'd find
The scars of new-lost wings)
