Chatter is stilled.
Voices soft but for shattered sobs
From those who knew the boy.

All eyes are downcast
Seeking answers, seeking solace
Contemplating life and its sudden end.

No laughter here,
Only tears and embraces,
Shock and screams in the heart.

The halls are silent.

The halls are silent.

Stark and hard. This was a great poem, but I hope my own funeral is nothing like this.

It wasn't a funeral. This was an observation of the behavior in my high school when a student was found dead in a car crash. Apparently he was speeding so he wouldn't be late and met a tree close to 80 mph.
