Donc, ou que commençer?...

Growing up, I wasn’t liked much.
Was spat on, rocks thrown at my head.
Guess no one in a Podunk gets it
When you’d rather read instead.

Moved away during my teenage years,
Found a new home thrice.
Discovered my inner bitch as well.
This helped to bust the ice.

Learned of my love of language,
Tested to the top of the State.
Le Champion du Grand Concours!
I finally have a fate!

‘Stead of school, helped out my mother
Who couldn’t move that much.
T’was here at this point in my life
I first felt Depression’s touch.

Next came those Dark Ages,
Questioning God, hating my woe.
Often I’d consider taking
A myriad of pills, all in one go.

Now I have a brighter countenance,
A newfound path, my eyes alight.
I’ll take on the challenges as they come-
Great Goddess, help me in my flight!

Translations: So, where to begin...? I reflect, I reflect. The story of my life is not finished. The Champion of the Grand Concours! (AKA Nat'l French Exam) I reflect, I reflect... And after that? I don't know.

That is truly breathtaking, beautiful and with hints of sadness, yet also hope. Wonderful piece. The words in french were a delight, although I'm not fluent in french. Well done. Julia~
