I waited for you all day,
From morning to just around three am
Until my eyes gave up on you and just closed,
knowing you just wouldn't come.

And then upon my wake, around five am,
I knew I dreamt you'd never left,
I knew I dreamt you never came.

The makeup that covered my face,
had long slipped and smudged,
knowing you wouldn't care.

And when I checked all my emails,
letters and message buddies, yours weren't there...

Have I just been dreming we ever met?

this was gripping. I love how it's left with that incomplete feeling, just like the idea of the piece. Very Well Said And Done So In Few Words, Wonderful!

I like the short twist at the end, the first stanza really hit hard for me. Waiting around for something that seems will never come, Lovely.

Thank you. This is actually about my ex Fiancee. We became strangers before it all went to hell.
