enter the war of emotions.

invisible swords
tear through flesh,
 wounding hearts that
 leak teary-eyed blue blood.

 reminders of the past
linger above heads like
cartoon character rain clouds,
 grudges ready to spill
 over like hot tar.

each poises on a ledge,
 uncertain of
the opponent's move,
 ever ready to
either embrace
or stab.
