 Today will be brilliant
if I can
remember
 to tiptoe around
 those few little thoughts

 that race around
 in my head
 like toy cars
 clumsily propelled
 by children's fingers

and find a way to
subtly explain
 my racing heartbeat
and my trembling fingertips.

 The sky will be
a more vibrant mixture
of blues and greys
 and the stars
 will seem closer
than ever before.
