we are
hooked together
with a
series of
covert,
mismatched wires
that are buried
secretly beneath
our skin.

captured and
held firmly
 in place,
our
 uncontrollable
hearts carry
on with
matching,
feverish beats.

perhaps because
they are
locked within
the same set
of bastilles.

your hands
and mine.
