I was only 1/3 the age requirement
when i knew of one of the
greatest joys of life

Other kids walked or maybe cycled
around the block in the hot
summer days of '95

But I was Mortal Kombatting my ass back then
it was real kool and krazy as
we started to substitute all "c"'s with "k"

And I spent whole afternoons
trying to make the other guy's player's
head roll off, burn, get eaten
and if I were lucky...
His head would get impaled on spikes

I know i was wierd back then having
been obsessed with such

The simple things that made me smile
pressing buttons in the air
and thinking of nothing but being the strongest
while staring blankly into empty space

And I look back at it all
it wasn't the plastic box that made it special

It was those who stood beside me
Laughing when we killed each other off...

~inspired by my friends i have left behind
and those who i will be leaving shortly

Here's to my 4 years in high school

I loved this game... what with the spikes down below, the heads rolling off, the spinal cord pulled out of the body. Ah, good times. Maybe I should try again. I enjoyed this, thank you.

"It was those who stood beside me Laughing when we killed each other off..." pure emotion in the semblance of a video game[1992/5]; CHOOSE YOUR FIGHTER! Shang Tsung. I was there for a a high kick, a low punch, a low kick, a blocked button; heavy elbow,...

...headbutt, backhand, complex uppercut! That Street Fighter magic, juggling movements and I feel those movements in your joystick poem. Sometimes its just good to recall the fun, even in poetry. Well done (although I was more into Downhill...

...rollerSkating Punch&Judy Extreme Sports; heh!). Still, nice. I love the emotion of your final line and the truth of: "I know i was wierd back then having been obsessed with such." Yea, ditto!

You know what? This is really nostalgic for me. MK2 was my favorite, all the babalities and Friendships... ahhh... to be 12 again.

this brings back memories -we did the same after school-street fighter 2 (sweetness) or Mortal Kombat -I liked subzero - you could rip the spinal column or kano -grab the heart but he was a bit sh*t other then his death move.

Didn't like the challenge that SFII brought because you could cheese the ass off your opponents...it was great but none like MK I, II & III...
