I get to see you
Everyday painted up so pretty
But when the cloths come off
I see the colors you try to hide
Craters of pain
Splashes of black, purple, and blue
Tattoed to your skin
Though never appearing to fade with age
Run my fingers over the delicate features
I see you wince in pain at the memories
I wipe away a tear
And in one move your body is pressed to mine
For warmth for love
But I push you back
Isnt this what you wanted?
Always to be hurt
Maybe I should just slap you
Save you the trouble of paying the artist for his work
I could spit on you
Tell you how worthless you are
Then I could cradle you in my arms
Tell you I am sorry and that it was your fault
You could weep on my shoulder
So you can have your whole life in this one room
But the one thing I could never give you
That he does
I could never give you the heartache
The torture from cheating right before your eyes
I could be like him as much as I want
But I love you all too much to do that
Instead I will continue watching
Consoling
Never allowed to stop him
Because your his shield
He knows that I will never strike him down because of that
