the shadow of doubt i feel
flickers across your face
painting my silhouette in
violent shades of solitude
don't humor me with sweet nothings
memory lost its nostalgic brand of
any reason to wake up in the morning
my arms ache for no man
love has come and gone in
erratic patterns of fingernails
pressed into my skin
some things weren't meant to last
the die is cast and i stare into snake eyes
you have made me cry for the last time
because i can't hold onto a phantom
even if my heart doesn't know the difference
jumping out of my skin i look back to see
i should have known better
but my train of thought is currently derailed
due to a change in the weather
channel five calls for rain
they say its the storm of a century
skies running black
with the smoke of burning churches
in this vast maze i hear you
but i see only the footsteps you leave
glittering with blood that makes me doubt
i really knew you at all
lets pray that love is blind
because i need to believe in you
