Chapter one wasn't so bad.
It gave all the characters names
And how they acted
And what they did with their lives.
It just never went into detail.
Chapter two is different.
It gave all the characters flaws
And what they did to relieve the pain
And how no one would help them.
They were in desperate need.
Chapter three made me feel at home.
It said that the father was crazy
And how momma never came home
And how the youngest daughter was the victim.
The youngest daughter sounded like me.
Chapter four made me cry.
The older brother and sister were druggies
And the dad became more abusive
And momma finally left for good.
I started relating all too well.
Chapter five took my breath away.
The older sister overdoses
And her brother committed suicide
While the youngest daughter was alone with her father.
Then I wondered if someone had written this for me.
Chapter six was really scary.
The girl that was left went through some phases
And after while ran away cause she found out
That her "parents" were getting divorced.
It broke my heart.
Chapter seven got to me the most.
Her and her father lived alone
And "daddy" was being nicer than ever
Because he realized he's made mistakes.
This made me smile for both of them.
Chapter eight made me a little angry.
Momma came home to get her daughter
And daddy didn’t want to let go
So he wound up getting shot.
I felt like I knew everything in her heart.
Chapter nine could’ve been better.
The mom got arrested
And the girl was a few months away from graduation
And she found a love that could last forever.
It seemed almost too good to be true, and I was right.
Chapter ten was more hectic.
Her love broke her heart
She missed her family that
It drove her into a deep manic depression.
I could feel the tears because I was crying.
Chapter eleven was one to remember.
She lost her home, her car, and no job
She was homeless, suicidal, and lonely
With a choice of suicide left.
I’m glad she didn’t do it.
Chapter twelve made me see a little clearer.
She was raped, and beaten
Now pregnant and nowhere to go
She found someone to take her in.
I felt like the book was telling me how life would be.
Chapter thirteen, the end of the book.
She lived in a house built for a princess
And she had a daughter than brightened dark skies
And she lived happily ever after.
That’s how I want my life to be.
So I dedicate this poem to the author
Of the book that meant so much to me.
Overall I’ve learned from her words
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
And it ends chapter by chapter.
