The Newborn

Into the crib it crept
to poison our newborn relationship
It did'nt seek to feed
or protect itself.
It saught to bend and to twist
to set one against the other
Perverse were it's motives
as was it's disquise
First the excuses
then came the sighs
From hope to sorrow
the journey was made
How long to continue
should we even go on
The fool i'm becoming
for I still wish to defend
Oh! that I could see
past this fog to the end
Wonderful, Heavenley these are
words I have used
Replaced now by
lost and confused
The path ahead
is shrouded in mist
To go on would be foolish
but theres no going back
Can we capture whats been lost
or has it drifted away
Only time can repair now
whats been shaken and thrown
Hope is the light that
shines through uncertainty
Like a child in the lions den
we face fear and the unknown
Faith guilds us toward
that place we can't see
Love helps us bear
the fire we pass through
What comes now is
the future
Whats gone is
past
My prayers will be answered
if we two can just last
