The rain fell against my window late
It called its tune and marched its
Path from sky to earth below

The leave trembled the bark drenched
But the rain kept tumbling down
Dreary upon my soul it lay

The trail sprawls on before me
Cold and wet devoid of cheer
bound to gloom and mist surrounds

I continue on through the spawn
of clouds on high above me
The marrow chills within

Ever onward it seems to wind
through Black and silent night
while bow sways and wind plays

Overhead a flash of light
tells tale of earthward flight
to smote the twig and limb

As hope seems pale
Surprise sets sale
and hope rekindled grows

through fog and fen
at Journeys end
a light though dim appears

it beckons me
with haste make way
the destination safe

A grin forms and smile erupts
as nearer draws the goal
warmth returns as path begins to end

I stand before the door
greeted by familiar smells
as sorrows tossed aside

Turning now to bid adu
Life's storm I stare and ponder
As I Close the door on
the path I sadly wondered
