oh so silently emotional drip skips
a beat
the night breathes heat
and tenderly you sleep
away from my bed.

i coveted you always.
As you slipped off, deadened to the world,
and once to my cries as i morned your second coming.
your rebirth
unto the likeness of love and many radiant things.

ribcage swelling with the absence of breath.

you for yourself, and now me for mine.

Like dying things that were once flourishing and alive.
Like rotting flowers and old beauty queens.
to rise and fall, and make something from the ashes.as temporary and reliable as a shadow.
failing to fall.
The deer eats the wolf.
and i, always a silently as i came,
watch it unfold.

did i break you love?
did i fool myself for the sake of hope?
i gave you a heart i never had.

i gave you my dead bird,
my rotting flower:.
~ the queen of bones.
