I'm in a cage
but I'm not afraid
I'm in your heart
at least I used to be
love is funny
It latches on
then it runs away
because I'm in a cage
But I'm not afraid
because I choose to stay
I lost a girl
she drowned in a drug
she called out for help
but drugs are like music
I was lost in the sway
But I'm not afraid
I was in her heart
at least I used to be
because i'm in a cage
It's made of my pain
no one jails me
I choose to stay
Sex is like water
You drink then you're done
But i am the desert
underneath your sun
Lust is like candy
sweet crumbling teeth
It rots you from the inside
it swallows from beneath
And I am like fire
trapped in a jar
burning like candles
compared to the stars
I 'm the prisoner
And this is my hurt
words like wasted rhymes
voice like barren dirt
I'm in a cage
No one jails me
I choose to stay
