his eyes were washed in an array of stars plucked from the sky
and each shakespeare line recited scattered from tequilla painted lips
canary yellow petals of poetic justice lost in midsummer breezes
and she whispered secrets locked in raindrop romances to deaf ears
wishing on each nebula she spotted in near-black irises
that his lungs would contract and his heart would open again
he was never around to watch her glow
eyelids were painted with constellations and traced with silver lining
stolen by her nectar lips scorn into an eternal frown by placid rain
and she'd kiss her prince to sleep with origami swans and braille hymns
dropping swastikas for unseen safety around a crib of dandellions and lillies
cradling his undying love in arms tattooed with middleschool love notes
borrowing mercury memories to stitch unwritten fairytales for a dead heart
broken promises to hearts smashed by immoral triumph
clutching dreams of fine pixie dust to a chest split in halves
and mouthing hollow prayers with vodka lips dripping spangled silhouettes
a dead king regurgitated the heavens and each petal slipping through
fastening to the pastel colors resurrecting a reversed rainbow complete
she was never around to shine
a princess swallowed by the sky
