lovestruck, i rewind through padded walls of eroded callous
to refract the Northern Lights with a kiss of mortal hope
so i may paint you a lullaby of interwoven serenades
to combat your magnificent mindset and enchanting waltz
and lure you into webs spun of unpolished planets and broken comets
only to hang trinkets of affection off of dull asteroids strewn with lace
and sew pixies into each hole in the sky so that they may entrance you
and you may kiss the nebulas from the placid rain
to construct tranquil hymns and whisper them one syllable at a time
because you know how to make the monarchs fly.
and i am in awe as your fingertips bleed decadence into porcelain
tracing delicacies and sagacity across every curve of a flawed body
while i am left wishing to be perfected so that i may be better than you in some way
besides unnecessary poetic justice distilled by stagnant tears
and love notes unworthy of mention scattered by midsummer winds
left to contrast against images of beauty worthy only of the Gods
and you will always be better in that sense
because you know that pictures are worth 1,000 words
and my mediocrity isn't even worth 3.
yet my soul weakens beneath the collision of scarlet blizzards
guilty of remaining dormant while regurgitating apologies
fingerpainting and mirroring a frown spilling rainwater cigarettes
into a smile representing something i prayed that i could be
so that you will continue to stay by my side
even though i am viewed as less each passing day
because we both know that i don't ask for much
unless love is such a burden.
