Embittered dewdrop stain on my lips
Please wither away
And I shall no longer try to find you
Lurking in your own space
Waiting patiently for my soul to gasp pure breaths
Between words and nicotine puffs
That stay forever in the eye lights of your brain.
A moment glanced away can form no other thing but
Altered time you can waste, surely dump
In the glitterdusts of my disposable hearts;
Forming stolen monuments from the caked debris
That was left of my faith and sanity in you.
Your Italian song, your Roman dance
That scorch’d the heat with tender rain
Your lilac stench that moves most frail
With paintbrush strokes that drip green paint
On your flowing dress that follows each hand I use
To caress the stowaway wind with.
You speak your empty conversations
And I watch those hollow alphabets drop one by one from your mouth.
--I drank your acid rain out of thirst and curiosity
And out of love maybe--
(Maybe more than your bittersweet imperfection)
Your Depeche child meandering
Past mounds of burning daffodils.
(Your eyes start to burn me)
Embittered dewdrop stain on my lips
Please wither away
And I swear I won’t ever break her heart again
Because every time her lips share the same
Phrases with hurt and pain
She breaks my own fragile heart as well.
