i sit
marinating complacently
in a lukewarm melancholy
i hate being in this place
the same place
i've been
for as long
as i can remember
singing the same songs
telling the same sad stories
around a campfire that never burns out
in an endless season of rain
and then
there was you
you brought new stories
new songs
and a blanket
to shelter me from the rain
and a promise
whispered in the wind
to make this place better for me
now everything is the same
but, oh
so different
since you came along
i still hate it here
but you've made it bearable
and you hate it with me
and we laugh together
huddled under our shared blanket
avaryone is jealous of us
finding happiness
in the endless rain
