i watched you ponder
the check
the percentage
and if i'd be mad if you didn't tip the guy
(he was a jerk but you know how i am)
baby blues rolled to the right
watched you do something as simple
as work your pouting mouth into a thougtfull scrunch
tap your gracefull fingers on the table
take a bite of icecream

and i loved you so hard i nearly fainted dead away

you caught me staring
enamored
and cocked your head and smiled
the light caught your ring
as you moved to grasp my fingers
and i thanked God you were mine

i remember the other day
during afternoon siesta
while we made love
and thinking you looked like poetry
or maybe the poet
watching a masterpiece bloom beneath his fingers

i watch you, hoping to drown in you
and love you more every moment
