"when the table turn, which end will you be on?"

if you were to see me out and about,
would you wave a friendly hello?
or simply turn and walk away,
turn your back to me like you always do?

we were so many years in the making,
we had shed so many tears over us.
we put in oh so much for oh so long,
so many years of tears just to have lost.

if i cried out in the night,
would you hear my plea?
would you come to comfort,
or once again ignore me?

we spent so long together,
we were one in the same,
bound forever by love,
yet im alone today.

if i needed what only you could give,
would you be willing to sacrifice?
or would you give it to another,
and tell me another lie?

we've grown so far apart,
you've been so far gone,
now im on the outside,
wishing to be able to look in.

when i saw you pass me by,
you waved a friendly hello,
but i turned my back as i always did.
you've yet to let go.

you cry out in the night,
but i am deaf to the sound.
if you're looking for comfort,
here it cannot be found.

you claim you need what only i can give,
but what you want sacrificed,
already belongs to another.
i grew tired of your lies.

you say you're sorry for the past,
you're alone and confused...
i say you are my past,
and how does it feel to be in my shoes?

***
to be placed in another's shoes, and feel as they once did for
you is a guilt like no other. sooner or later tables do turn.
how does it feel? written for somebody who made
me feel like a nobody.

again I feel drawn to your poetry. It's undescribable how earily close I can relate to what you write....

yep, you highlight how precarious human nature and relationships are; a disinctly mature slant, it's not particularly a poem of my tastes, but I can appreciate the reasons behind it..dig a little, Respect - Col.
