"love is distant; love is near. love is my dream; love is my fear."

i lie awake,
feeling empty and stale.
i lie in darkness,
numb and still.
dreaming, though wide awake,
i lie here and ponder our fate.

a love forbidden,
a love tempted to dare.
a love so sacred,
a love so feared.
a chance so distant
for a love so near.

will we ever see the day
our love is here,
or will we sit and wait,
watching it all pass us by,
watching the chance slowly die,
as we fade with the time?

we acknowledge the feeling,
we knows it's here.
we act with limits
behind closed doors,
while insisting to others
that it's not there.

our love is my dream,
our love is my nightmare,
our love is my hope,
our love is my fear.

i dream that my hopes
will not be the nightmares i fear.
the only solution would be to have you here...
instead i lie here realizing you are there.

***********************************************
i live through each day tormented by the fact
that we are still living in shadows, and living
under restrictions. but no matter the torment,
i would not trade it for the world.
