"when a heart is broken, it can still be shattered."

after years of hurt,
and years of pain,
years of distrust,
and years of dismay,
you saw something in me
nobody else could see.
you gave me reason
for me to believe.

you made me feel wanted;
you made me feel loved.
you were the better side of me,
you were my only dream.
never had i been so sure,
never had i wanted anyone more.
i had felt this love never before.
you had shown me things were better than they seemed.

then in one night, you took it all from me.

when we were at our peak,
just when nothing could come between,
when nightmares had turned to dreams,
and dreams turned to reality,
you opened my eyes to love's brutality.
you broke my heart when you betrayed me.
all hope given is now love lost,
you had to satisfy yourself, regarless of the cost.

you told me i was wrong,
you told me i was not the one
for which you longed.
the love was in my head,
and i would be better alone instead.
it was all my imagination,
and to you our fate was dead.
then you left me with an empty bed.

weeks had past, and you had moved on. i have left state to start anew.

just when the pain had begun to ease,
you felt the need to call me.
there was something you felt i should know.
you werent sure, but you might be starting to show.
a miracle come true, fore i was told this i could not do.
you may have been carrying my legacy in your womb.
a single tear of joy turned to that of pain,
when you told me it would also be it's tomb.

a life you had not wanted,
a child was unplanned.
you could not carry another, it was too soon.
you werent ready, so his or her fate was doomed.
a miracle in the making for a chance i should have never had.
you knew i had been told i could never be a dad.
there was no chance it belonged to another,
you couldve been MY child's mother.

my heart sank and fell to the floor,
already broken in two, it could take no more.
you broke my heart and now shattered the remains...
we made a miracle, and then you took it away.

once again, you thought of only yourself. nothing else mattered.
just goes to show that even when a heart is broken, it can still be shattered.

***to anyone who has ever been told they could never carry-on their name, believe me when i say to keep hope. never give up. there is no greater gift you can leave the world with than a child to carry-on your legacy.

***to those who decide the life of a child is not worth the sacrifice of your precious time...just remember that child could have found the cure for cancer. that child could have been a great leader. and that child could have been yours!

***and to you...when you read this, just remember that it truely was a miracle...and my dream...but your selfish means have pushed the light of the stars back into the depths of night. it's a dream that could never be in my reach again...
