In my head. . .
A hideous barbed wall
Of mangled emotions growing up it like a vine
Keeps you distanced from me.
It’s not my intention
To keep you out,
But to tame and understand
The beasts of uncertainty within.
Step onto the twisted path
That will lead you back to my heart.
And before we begin our trek,
Know that I love you.
I will be your guide
Through this distorted realm.
Put your hand in mine
And walk with me,
So that together
We can climb this wall
Of thorns carved from sorrow.
And once on the other side,
We can remain together
Holding you in my arms,
As I once did.
