soft.step
dream wrapped in waiting
and beautiful words
she's like
a breath
of God's
mercy.
ashes scattered over the
ocean of stars
with the sun on her face
and a smile
that
could pale the moon
I would hold my light
upon her, if I could.
she has, a butterfly rapture
to her mein;
her rainy-day smiles leave
us naked as we came.
something in her eyes
belies her sleeping innocence
an angel without conscience
a romance that
need
no
wings.
she deserves
no less than every brittle rose
and earthly beauty in her wake and
a'fore her subtle step.
.
I mourn, sometimes
for I can give her nothing
...I can give her nothing
more
than a handful of poetry
and a kiss of my
heartfelt
verse.
