Your silence leaves me breathless;
caught under streetlights sullen, bare as bone
magnitude unwinding to pitiful climax amongst
my veins... I'll crush my eyelids shut in smoke-befouled
revelry and chase my demons from my head;
catch you amongst haloes and the charnel of our dead -
chattle holes through my confidence and feint
my derailed patterns for a straight line.

 .a heartbeat is only time to breathe

soon I'll learn that coffee and cigarettes
mean nothing to forgotten toasts and livid dreams;
coup de grace of dead regrets, and would lie begotten
of something a little less than life sprawled upon the
doorsteps of infinity. I'm just a child pinned on the aether
drawn across the universe like an unspoken word;
too much left in choked airways and dead.stop paraphrase -
concentric machine ticking further away from reason
and even further from your subtle intakes of breath...

I'll cough up rhyme and jilted phrase as song
slaughter my prose for the rush of taking something sweet;
slide back to melancholy and nights in the shadows of the jetty
smoking and thinking as the moon counts hours past my
solemn countenance, and know the waters hold more secrets than I.
knowing I am no more than a platitude to your ambrosia,
vulgar to your eyes and discordant to your tune.
this crippled heart leads me on without you, I swear it;
and yet somehow;
all this screaming runs backwards
and my courage, it quavers;
and I know I won't have the heart to end it like this -
hand full of roses and confession at my throat.
