An Adonis
A God among men
Trapped in the Dark Fortress of your Soul
Seemingly aloof
Yet starved for the Love
You think you don’t deserve
I strive to touch the hem
Of your Cloak of Despair
Knowing
I can set you free
If you will only allow it
I creep slowly forward
To embrace you
One step
         Two steps
                   Three steps
Before tumbling from your fortress walls
Broken and wounded,
Teetering on the brink
Of the Crevice of Anguish
I sob silently
A hot flood of tears
consumes me
Tears shed not for myself
But for you
For your pain , loneliness and despair.
I rise up, bind my wounds
Lashes wet with unshed tears
I stare at the wall in front of me
Once again I begin to climb
One step
         Two steps
                    Three steps….
Fleetingly, I wonder
How many more times
Must I tumble from your walls
Before I am forever
Broken…

Oooooooooooh, how I've missed your words as of late! Reading this...well...I've been shown the depth of your emotions, and in this piece, I'm feeling them with you. Wonderfully done. ~*Beth*~
