Let Me Be Strong Enough

Am I strong enough?
I am so unsure that my heart can take the torment
Of loving you.
I have never been
Pretty enough
     Thin enough
           Feminine enough
                    Soft enough
For those who have passed through my life
Yet I have always been
Strong enough
Until now…..
I laid my Heart in your hands
As gently
As a Mother cradles a Newborn
And you took it
Just as......gently
I dread the day
When you find me Imperfect
And slip away from me
As easily as a deer
traverses the forest
Leaving my heart
Cold and lifeless once more.
Please!
Great Spirit which moves through all things
I beg of You
Let me be strong enough……
