Last night in waning sleep I roll'd unable to discern
My fate - a poet in a world still deaf
To tragedy and chivalry components of the verse
which sings, with ease, from 'neath a soul - inept

Such fervid aignst flew - effortless - fro' grimaced lips again
Into the howling winds I barked my plea
That thro' the tear-soaked tragedy and blight of selfishness
One day we might remove the silt, to see

That neath the soiled tenets of the vipers and the thieves
Lies still, that inkling of the faintest good
Still, thro those pious cleric eyes of chastity and praise
Lies venom from the viper and the crook...and
Below the mangy rags which cover, modestly, the souls
Of vagrant denizens from broken streets
Alike the noble and the lost, together dost we kneel
To kiss the gods upon their honeyed feet

My childish hope is that one day we may remove the veil
Which, for so long, has ripped the will to see
That underneath the masquerades of profit and esteem
We swim together through the same dark sea
