The unanswered telephone is its hallmark,
Days alone with the television and a microwave meal,
Midnight hours searching the Internet,
Looking for the piece of you that’s lost.
You begin to fade,
You scream, no one hears, no one cares,
Deposed from power and helpless,
Is this really loneliness?
Or is loneliness being drowned with friends,
Friends whose names are drunken blurs,
These people who have closed minds,
That is loneliness, to not have a kindred spirit.
