Act: ONE
Scene: one time too many......

for every time she has died
a single tear falls from the sky
she plays it safe and stays inside
can't risk another death blow now
still trying to save what is left of herself
from the last storm somehow

still bleeding from the battle of love's last war
to scared to move, can't face another fight
sits and stares at her dressing room door
"the show must go on..."
*sigh*
her last show will be tonight

memories...,
they all lead up to this one day
nowhere to run, nothing left to hide
broken dreams lost along the way
hears them whispering as the curtain 'calls
not one person came running
not one heard the sound of her fall

lives her life from day to day
her heart, the stage
her life is the world's play
they flock in rows to steal a glance
and they wait for hours in long lines
to win her affections, to be granted the chance
some will pay anything in promises

to her,... their gifts of LIES

the lights go down, voices fall still
she paints them pictures of a wounded soul
of the girl that smiles and waves
thru the laughter and the tears
as she always will
her love for him, to her, was enough reason
presents them with facts
of his deception and treason
that falling in love was this girl's curse
tells her story of another time and place
so painfully expressed in poetic verse
looks out at the blank stare on every face
deathly silence fills the air
can't they feel it, don't they care??
confusion and doubt clouds her mind
did she leave something out??
or were they being intentionally unkind?

her tears went un-noticed
her cries were not heard
they see not from her eyes this pain, ...
nor did they hear with their hearts as they should
if lost to false visons all in vein
then all love's purpose be misunderstood

will these sounds, forever be unheard
within the walls of only her mind
and there, will they always remain

gasps in her last, her final breath
her smile fades and washes into a pale grey
the world stands in applause
mocking this tragic ending
as a single tear falls.......

This piece is wonderful, painting life as one big play, and feeling like know one knows/cares how you really feel. I can somewhat relate to this. Good write.

beatiful..this poem fell in a light rain, bathing me with sorrow and depth and sadness. in that rain, a heart is seen, a heart broken and tormented. but it is a lovely heart, and it's words have no limit..

On Friday November 18th, 2005, Anna Helianthus (1162) writes:
i, too, applaud..and your words are a theater, and i am one of those watching, mesmerized and transfixed, upon the tragic sorrow and compelling watercolors that paint the scene and move the story along in a most interesting way.

On Friday November 18th, 2005, Anna Helianthus (1162) writes:
i pray that this curtain never ceases to draw shut, that the embers of darkness will dance and continue for a subtle piece of art each time. and i know that prayer is not unrealistic, for you are indeed lovely.

"some will pay anything in promises" This is a beautifully haunting breath of fresh air...you have talent, my dear heart breaker, and I will be watching you closely from here out. Heart-stealing piece...*Evangel*
