don't speak to me
as if you knew me

don't assume me by my smile
to be more than I mask in denial

don't act surprised, then ask me why
when you cut me and cause me to cry

don't speak to me
as if you knew me

to tell me how I must really feel
as if to say what in fact, I DO, is not real

don't tell me that you love me
then strip all my trust in you away from me

don't speak to me
as if you knew me

you had your chance, and lost it fast
as real as I loved you, like this-it wouln't last

and used others to help as your tools
conspired against and played as your fool

don't speak to me
as if you knew me

go ahead and sit there and laugh away
but remember the truth in why I couldn't stay

just don't speak to me
as if you know me
