Don’t let it be this way my friend
I don’t want to need to let you go, like I have so many at early ends
I’ve had these days, just like yours today
But then I stopped and thought about all that needed pay
I thought about old friends I’d like to see again
And how I may never do so if like this I let it end
I thought about the things I’ve seen
The people lost, and all those mean
How I miss so many people who left me all the same
And how so long only myself had I to blame
A song came back to me from the past
Inspired me, moved me, and gave me strength to last
It meant so much and yet it said so little
Don’t break your life, so hard, so brittle
I will help, if that’s what you need
But I don’t want to see your life go to seed
