Christmas, an Apology

"This program is so negative that we don't even broadcast it; we narrowcast it."

"God rest ye merry, Gentleman!
Let nothing you dismay"
The sales will start at six o'clock
Right after Christmas day
And long before the music ends
The spirit dies away
When shepherds at their nine to fives
Can't find the time to pray

So with the passing of the years
The snow has turned to rain
And we now keep the Yuletide dry
In sheets of cellophane
The hope that stemmed from Mary's birth
--Forgotten and in vain
And Christmas Eve's festivities
Seem vapid and inane

I'm sorry that you had to see
How pointless man's concerns could be
I'm sorry that you came for us
I'm sorry that it ended thus
With you nailed high upon the cross
The pain was yours, but ours the loss
And maybe on that afternoon
When you knew the end was soon
Maybe then you wondered why
You came to earth and chose to die
Maybe there at last you saw
The apogee of mankind's flaw
As the dull crowd gawked and stared
Could you see that no one cared?

Stuart is right..Your works are so fluid that it seems as though you write them effortlessly. I love your conclusions; they r always perfect and satisfying. ~Faerie~
