The Truth of Pain and Joy
Poetry by James Kulikowski Published on DarkPoetry.com 2005-10-24
standing in darkness,
shealded from the morning sun
as i gaze out over the open water
the cold touch of death falls upon me
as these words play over in my mind
"the truth that is life is hard and dangerious"
"that those who seek their own happiness"
"do not find it"
"and that those who are week"
"must suffer"
"and joy is for those who fear not be alone"
then i realize
that the fear is there
and is as real as any true emotion
and that i have never know joy
because i am desprit to keep my love
