Watching you through a pane of glass
A 1000 miles within it, a 1000 miles between us
Your beauty digs a stiletto heel down into my tongue
I am unable to whisper or scream
I write your name upon my palm, and with outstretched fingers
press it against the wall of distance between us
You reach your arm out towards mine, as if gazing into a mirror
We stare at each other becoming frozen images
Photographs hanging side by side in a gallery
Passersby pondering the mystery in our eyes
“I think these two represent what might have been.”
“No, see the names on their hands? They are two halves of a whole.”
