This is an elegy to all the poets
we’re fading quickly
we’re a race dying and sickly
so I’m telling you this
these short lines are for us
throw away the knives
you need your wrists to write
toss out your drugs
quit staying out all night
we can all open our hearts
though I’m afraid we’ve went to far
we’re writers
here to broaden minds of others
write things that people feel
show people their true ideal
so quit degrading yourself
write
or we’ll be extinct
all of us
be pure to what you do
