Peaple pride themselves, on how well
they play the game.

I'll stab your back, you stab mine.

( Hey they would do the same to me, right? )
.
.
.
.
And I say nothing.

Whispers sear the flesh on my back,
and run goosebumps up my arms.

( As if I can't here them from behind me )
.
.
.
.
And I say nothing.

The blame on the floor is swept
in my direction.
By anyone, and everyone who can get
their hands on a broom.

( I'll cough up the dust for days )
.
.
.
.
And I say nothing.

Cars dart in & out, and cut in front
of my older, slower, less-expensive vehicle.

( Half of them give me the finger )
.
.
.
.
And I say nothing.

I collapse on the couch, wanting
to cry, or scream, or strangle someone.

( If only I could afford the time )
.
.
.
.
And I say nothing.

My daughter, crawls onto my lap.
She looks into my eyes, and asks
" what's wrong daddy?"

( I feel a smile welling inside me )
.
.
.
.
and I say,
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
nothing.

People spend most of their lives seeking redemption or justification in a lover, I've found that of everything I've been through in life, the only people who have ever had the power to do either have been my daughters and my family.

this left me feeling warm and with a smile dancing on my lips...children are so often our saviors, our worlds cradled in their tiny hands, and they never even know it..beautiful ~kristy

Wow man - very impressive, it sometimes seems like the little things that drive us mad, also find a way to take us back to our original disc of sanity, where we find ourselves again, but with a little more wisdom. A truely poetic write my friend. Daniel

Awww, you've outdone yourself. I thought it was lovely how you included your daughter. I'm sure she is lucky to have you as a dad. If I'm not mistaken, don't you have more than one? Just curious. This was lovely, doll.
