At the edge of the sea
Crying eyes find the waves
A sideways masterpiece
Washing to shore
The broken shells of our love.
.......................................
Time’s tender sands
Silently fall through my trembling fingers
Fast forwarding the picture I’ve tried to put on pause for so long.
My mind has caught up with my senses,
You’re gone.

And at the edge of the sea
I sit.

And here I bury my blackened heart.
The grenades
And the bullets
And the bombs
Have all torn it to a battered scar
Tissue of love wishing to wither
So it no longer hurts from past battles fought and lost.

Only the water lapping the wet sand
Could carry me away
And I would have no objections.
Take me into the gray sky
Promising snow at the edge of the earth
And my crying eyes would only blend
So no one could see the hurt.
Happiness would be the only rain drop in my sky.
...................................
And in this sky I’d lose you.
The beautiful aura you carried all these years
…All gone.
I can barely feel your voice when you call
You no longer reach out for something alive
Because all you’ve known has wilted
Succumbing to a crawling death.

At the edge of the sea
I cry.

I lay in the high tide of the freezing Atlantic
Knowing this is all that separates us.

Knowing you’re burying yourself in sand
Just as I am now.

And knowing our love is unable to withstand
What everyone predicted would be the reason for our fall(out)

At the edge of the sea
I find I’m still missing you.
And here is where I take my leave
Of all that resembled us.
Here is where I let everything wash away
And hope tomorrow brings snow
Colder weather to kill off this illness
Making me mourn your departure.

I could never have hoped to make something so beautifully painful from it. Once again, we tread the same waters. Let's hope we're strong enough not to drown. *Evangel*

That line about the freezing Atlantic, devoured my heart. Shakespeare's tales of love, and loss, never chilled me this deeply. ^V^
