Life is a puzzle
as a puzzle to me.
Going throughout collecting pieces
to set myself free.
Crouched in the corner
hiding in the dark
So I shrink to fit in
and with a lighter...a spark.
On hands and knees now
I sift through the dirt
I must get them back!
If too late...again I'll hurt.
Think my soul, think
where would they hide?
So I pull to the cemetary
and climb over the side.
Rolling in damp blades
grasping cool earth
A calm peace encroaches
as I grasp purpose and worth.
Pausing now to absorb
I turn and lay on my back.
Gazing at that beautiful moon
at me she gazes back.
Here all along
inside me they've been
not hiding under a rock
or blowing in the wind.
These pieces always
beneath skin and bone
and I realize it now
after all I've been shown.
No longer filling shoes
or trying to play a role
for I have what's mine now...
I am completely whole.
