Sorrow in excess is laughter. - William Blake

Humor is what you wish in your heart were not funny, but is, and you must laugh. Humor is your own unconscious therapy. - Langston Hughes

Dark Poetry chat box: It is not a good omen when goldfish commit suicide.

One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a long time. - Andre Schied

Failure is unimportant. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself;
I am at peace with my God. My conflict is with man;
Laughter is the tonic, the relief, the surcease of pain;
Nothing is permanent in this wicked world, not even our troubles. - Charlie Chaplin

I must create a system or be enslaved by another man's. - William Blake

Hell is paved with priests' skulls. - Saint John Chrysostom

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stomping on a human face, forever. - George Orwell

Christianity was from the beginning, essentially and fundamentally, life's nausea and disgust with life, merely concealed behind, masked by, dressed up as, faith in "another" or "better" life;
The compassionate Christian: The reverse side of Christian compassion for the suffering of one's neighbor is a profound suspicion of all the joy of one's neighbor, of his joy in all that he wants to do and can. - Friedrich Nietzche

No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another. - Charles Dickens

The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials. - Chinese Proverb

You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean. If a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. - Mahatma Gandhi

Examine what is said, not him who speaks. - Arab Proverb

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms,
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
- Pablo Neruda, Sonnet 17

You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams. - Dr. Seuss

The surest protection against temptation is cowardice. - Mark Twain

Let us endeavor to live so that when we die even the undertaker will be sorry. - Mark Twain

I am Esau. Figuratively at least, let's leave it at that. I have a BA in Psychology, I'm an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church (kind of a joke, but I like it), and I write to keep from bottling things up. I would be surprised if I was the only one who did. I love helping, but I don't seek the problems of others. I may be able to tell somethings wrong, but they have to ask for help. I refuse to intrude. Well miscreants, keep your heads up and the pens down. Forward march.
