A murder flapping in a cage
Their dark feathers bleed black rage
You keep happiness under lock and key
Until the murder becomes angry
And every single bloody bar
Shows the ones who go too far
Every shining piece of steel
Represents wounds that cannot heal

Who’s the crook inside the cell?
Hate and anger start to swell
And the foolish fail to see
The one that’s locked inside is free

Every bar is singled out
I feel freedom and I shout
Away from her, away from them
Away from those who make me grim
Now I’m free to roam the land
Camouflaged, weapon in hand
I’m a man living for himself
All the past sits on a shelf

Who’s the crook inside the cell?
Hate and anger start to swell
And the foolish fail to see
The one that’s locked inside is free
