i was 14 when i went to my first big kid party
the first party where people were drinking
and smoking and having a lot of fun
that they weren't supposed to be having
the first party where the music was so loud
the house shook and the lamps broke
the first party where the cops showed up
and everybody got kicked out. but not in time.
the first party that i missed, because i was
up in a bedroom,
losing my childhood innocence.

and i wonder why i like the number 13.

The saddest part is I knew the topic and direction of this write by just the title! However the write was very engaging and therefore job well done! I particularly like how you did not depress the situation, and if so that is NOT the impression I got! This ALMOST reads like you WANTED this to take place!

13 is my favorite and lucky number, its ironic how the worst things that happened to me in life happened at that age...-Airi

thanx for the memory, as I have been there, losing my innocence to an older girl taking advantage of me. c'est la vie, it's all a roller-coaster ride; sometimes fun, sometimes not, but always fast. 13 lives.

Great poem. Never waste your childhood while you have it. I'm still holding onto mine.

tell a child to hold onto there innocence, and they most likely wont know what you mean. i lost mine at 8 unfortunately not by choice.
