i have never considered myself a poet...
i can write lyrics...to music...a lyricist...
i can critique works...and i'm damn good at it...a critique...
i can write newspaper articles...tell the news...a journalist...
i can write short stories...fiction...a novelist...
i can write emotion...truth...like a still beating heart being ripped out of a young man's chest or the pain from the rape of a tiny baby girl...
but i can not write poetry...
when emotion, stories, articles, critiques and lyrics somehow
meld into one to create poetry,
then, and only then, will i become a poet.
