I thought it felt like i hadn't seen you in ages
but when you picked me up last night,
it was as if no time had been lost
and when we drove in your car, and you let me switch the gears
i was 14 again when you first taught me to drive
and when you opened my car door
i was 16 again and we were on our way to my junior prom
and when you walked me to the door
i was 18 again and you were walking me down the aisle
like you did only three short years ago
and when you turned to walk back to the still-running engine
it was like when you left me last year
And all hopes of you ever returning
were shattered as you drove away in the rain.
