Johnny grew up
Thinking he lived
In a perfect family....
A husband and a wife
He a lawyer, she a nurse
Who sat on the parents' comittee
of her perfect children's school
Two children, Johnny and Jane
He an athlete, she an anrtist
Who were both actively involved
in their perfect public school
Johnny learned about
justice and war
in his perfect little school
Jane learned about
peace and truth
in her perfect little school
When Jane left home
she was naive
She met a man
for whom she loved deeply
When Johnny left home
he was a soldier
he fought in a war
that was never resolved
Jane left the man
With bruises on her back
And scars too deep to heal
Johnny came home
And couldn't stop fighting
In a war that was his own
Johnny found Jane's man
And built him a grave
So he could end
his sister's war
He learned of Justice
She learned of Peace
But neither learned about
Forgiveness
The perfect family
Torn at the seams
Lost all they had
Because of what they were(n't)taught
In their perfect little school
